Awkwafina started out as a American musician and rapper releasing sly tracks that tackled questions of race and sexuality with a humorous twist. Prior to her move into Hollywood, she could perform a variety of tracks. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Koreans living from Forest Hills Queens. Her first encounter with music was via the trumpet.
